Ivory coast kolo Toure dedicateS nations cup trophy to old generation

Bata - Following their 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) triumph, Ivory Coast and Liverpool defender Kolo Toure says he is dedicating their long-awaited crown to the previous generation which includes the likes of Didier Drogba, Didier Zokora and Aruna Dindane.
The Elephants broke their 23-year-old drought in the competition when they defeated Ghana 9-8 on penalties in the AFCON final played at
the Estadio de Bata, Equatorial Guinea last Sunday.
The veteran man marker also hinted that despite their victory over the Black Stars, the Ghanaians were the better team on the day and deserved to walk away victorious.
“The game was very tough for both teams,” Toure said in a post-match press conference.
“I think Ghana deserved to win the game, they were better than us.
“Penalties are crucial and bad at the same time but at the end of the day we were rewarded.
“This time God gave us a trophy on penalties because I believe penalties are all about God.
“The country has been waiting for this moment for so many years.
“So I want to dedicate this win to Drogba, Dindane, Zokora and others who were with us building this team in the past.
“We worked very hard after missing out in 2006 and 2012.”
